Chapter 5 Summary
Space Girl’s parents tell her that they are going to visit the planet known as Manifesto, where thoughts manifest into real-life actions. Space Girl is excited to be like Super Space Girl, knowing she'll be able to do things with her mind. The people of the planet have used their minds to create floating islands in the sky and blue rings around the planet. Her father explains that the people of Manifesto undergo rigorous training in thought because only the purest thoughts have power there. Penelope’s father further explains that the planet’s power comes from vibration. Just as sound and light travel through vibrations, thoughts have their own vibration. If your thoughts aim to cause harm to anyone, they lose their power.
Manifesto wasn’t always like this. There was once a great war between good and evil, and good prevailed because love is stronger than fear. There was once an evil general named Maloom who created a stone of pure malumite, which allowed destructive thoughts to have power on Manifesto once again. Her parents didn’t know if Maloom had returned, but the stone had resurfaced. There had recently been an attack on the capital city, and they were heading to Manifesto to investigate.
Chapter 5 Discussion
Penelope’s father tells her that the strongest feeling in the universe is the feeling of love. How often do you tell the people you love that you love them?
Chapter 6 Summary
Space Girl and Space Cat gaze in awe at the incredible sight of the planet Manifesto as the TSR Intuition approaches. They marvel at the floating islands with wonder. The islands began floating because the people of Manifesto made them rise with their minds. Ahead, they spot a gray cloud. All the floating islands beneath the cloud have fallen to the ground. Penelope’s parents tell her that the cloud is spreading. If they don’t act quickly, the entire planet will suffer the same fate.
Chapter 6 Discussion
There are floating islands on the planet Manifesto. If there were floating islands on Earth, what would you build on them? Can you draw it?
Chapter 7 Summary
Space Girl and Space Cat step onto Manifesto with their parents, where they are greeted by the president. The president’s secretary, Don, escorts them to a school where they will join other students for a lesson on Manifesto. Instead of leading them to a classroom, Don takes them to a giant field. Both Space Girl and Space Cat are concerned when the teacher announces that their lesson for the day will be learning to fly—especially after the nightmare they both had.

Chapter 13 Summary
Space Girl suddenly remembers that there is one power stronger than the fear Malooom is using to control them: love. She focuses on her love for Space Cat, and with that, Malooom’s hold over her breaks. In a heartbeat, she catches Space Cat just before he hits the ground. Together, they return to the island where Malooom still stands, shocked by their defiance. Penelope looks him in the eye and declares that love is stronger than fear. She charges at Malooom, knocking the malumite from his hands upon impact. Space Cat swiftly picks up the stone.
Malooom, enraged, takes flight, soaring into the air as Space Girl and Space Cat pursue him. Space Cat attempts to use the malumite to control Malooom, but the evil general sneers, explaining that the stone will only work for those who use it for evil.
With a swift motion, Malooom draws a sword, slashing through the air to cut a hole in space and time. He taunts them, saying that if they can guess where he’s traveling to, they might solve another riddle awaiting them. Then, he disappears into the hole, which snaps shut behind him.
Chapter 13 Discussion
Maloom uses his sword to disappear. If you could go anywhere and any time in history, where would you go?
Chapter 14 Summary
Space Cat tells Space Girl that the sword is the Sword of Space and Time. They return to the TSR Intuition, and the president thanks them for their help. The gray cloud is gone, and Manifesto is safe. Space Girl doesn’t feel like a hero because she wasn’t able to capture Malooom. She tells her parents what Malooom told them, and her father believes he knows where they need to go. They are headed to a place with a riddle as old as time itself, but he won’t tell her where that is. Penelope hopes that she will have another opportunity to catch the villain.
